About the IAPP

Dr. Luiz Fernando Plastino Andrade is a senior attorney at Barcellos Tucunduva Advogados (BTLAW) in São Paulo, Brazil, specializing in intellectual property, technology law, and privacy and data protection since 2009. Throughout his career, he has worked with medium to large law firms, including Tanaka e Izá Sociedade de Advogados, Trigueiro Fontes Advogados, and Rothmann Advogados, gaining extensive experience in both advisory and contentious matters, as well as serving as in-house counsel.  

Dr. Plastino Andrade holds a Bachelor's degree in Law (2008), a Master's in Civil Law (2014), and a Doctorate in Civil Law (2023) from the University of São Paulo (USP). He also completed a postgraduate specialization in Information Technology Law at the Escola Superior de Advocacia da OAB/SP (2012). His academic pursuits include courses such as CopyrightX Course from the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School and the Summer School on Intellectual Property" by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as well as many other courses in information technology and information security.  

In addition to his legal practice, Dr. Plastino Andrade is an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). He has contributed to various publications and has been involved in academic activities, including guest lectures on intellectual property, privacy, and technology law. His professional journey reflects a commitment to staying at the forefront of developments in privacy, technology, and intellectual property.
