Irish Salandanan-Almeida, CIPM
Irish Salandanan-Almeida is the chief privacy officer and vice president for governance, risk, and compliance of Globe Telecom's Information Security and Data Privacy Group and Artificial Intelligence Group.
She is a Certified Information Privacy Manager with the IAPP and completed the Data: Law, Policy, and Regulation course of the London School of Economics in 2022. She served as IAPP's KnowledgeNet Philippines Chapter Chair from 2021-2022 and currently serves as a member of the IAPP's Women Leading Privacy Advisory Board.
Salandanan-Almeida received her Bachelor's Degree in Legal Management from the Ateneo de Manila University and her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law. She began her professional career in Philippine law firms where she specialized in civil, commercial and criminal litigation before shifting to public policy. She was part of the USAID Trade-Related Assistance for Development Project where she worked with industry pioneers toward the passage of the Philippine Competition Act. She then joined Uber and Grab where she advocated for ride-hailing legislation.
As a mother of three young children, children's privacy and online safety are among Salandanan-Almeida's personal advocacies. She participates in Globe's programs to promote digital literacy and to prevent online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, cyberbullying, fraudulent spam and scam activities, and other unlawful schemes that are rampant in the digital space today.
