About the IAPP

Maria is Principal Consultant at MITC Consulting Services. She holds an AIPP certification in Information Privacy Management (CIPM).

Her areas of focus are Risk Management, Data Ethics, Data Governance, and Regulatory Reform. She is on a path of understanding the potential of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies in business. Her belief is that better outcomes can be achieved for consumers when they have better awareness of their rights and obligations, and she works towards contributing with privacy and governance frameworks, processes, and systems that are fairer and more transparent.

She has worked with key privacy laws across the globe and has gained experience on a range of industries including financial services, consumer protection, health and medical. Her sphere of operation has been in legal, compliance, risk and privacy where she has collaborated with business owners, marketing and IT departments providing advice to achieve strategic company goals.

Maria sees privacy and data governance not only as regulatory requirement but as competitive advantages in the market. She strives to provide practical business solutions with a risk-based approach which employs Privacy by Design and ethical consideration to tackle privacy and data governance obligations.
