About the IAPP

Dan is Merck’s lead U.S. AI, privacy, and data counsel. As a member of the company’s AI governance council, he collaborates with IT, data scientist, and compliance teams to ensure the responsible and ethical development, use, and governance of AI.

As a recognized expert in privacy, Dan also oversees Merck’s legal compliance with the evolving U.S. privacy landscape and supports the digital & data analytics organization with data acquisition, analysis, and governance.

Active in the AI and privacy leadership space, Dan is also a frequent speaker on AI, privacy, and data governance. In addition to serving on the IAPP’s AIGP Exam Development Advisory Board, he is also on the American Conference Institute’s Life Sciences AI Advisory Board and was a prior board member of the New York City Bar Association’s Presidential Task Force on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies.

Prior to joining Merck, Dan was an associate at Mayer Brown LLP, where he advised Fortune 500 companies on emerging technologies, data governance, incident response, and privacy
