About the IAPP

Jean Pierre is a Data Protection Manager at Equity Bank Rwanda, where he spearheads initiatives to ensure compliance with global privacy regulations and fortify the bank’s data protection framework. His responsibilities include developing data protection strategies, implementing effective privacy programs, and advising on cybersecurity governance.

Jean Pierre began his career in cybersecurity and privacy shortly after earning his master’s degree in computer engineering from the Kharkiv Aviation Institute, Ukraine. Over the years, he has established himself as a trusted expert, earning prestigious certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, CISSP, and ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.

An advocate for knowledge sharing and thought leadership, Jean Pierre has contributed significantly to advancing privacy and security. He has authored a publication in IEEE on privacy and security topics and has delivered insightful talks, including as a speaker at the Africa Cyber Defense Forum, where he shared his expertise on emerging privacy and cybersecurity trends.
