Szymon Sieniewicz, CIPP/E
Szymon Sieniewicz is Head of Linklaters' TMT/IP practice in Warsaw, specializing in all aspects of data protection, privacy and cybersecurity law. Before joining the firm, he gained professional experience in several law firms and international organizations in Poland, Germany and Belgium.
He regularly advises organizations on all aspects of European and Polish privacy and data protection laws. Szymon’s professional experience includes compliance, contractual and transactional matters for international and local clients. He has been involved in designing and implementing group-wide GDPR implementation programs for clients across a range of sectors, including international banks, investment funds, insurance companies, brokerage houses, real estate developers, technology companies, healthcare service providers, chemical, media, e-commerce and marketing companies.
Szymon regularly assists clients in preparing data protection policies and procedures, drafting and negotiating data processing agreements, assessing and notifying personal data breaches to the supervisory authorities and data subjects, as well as representing clients in enforcement actions taken by the supervisory authorities. Recently, he has been involved in various projects concerning international data transfers. He has also extensive experience in M&A transactions. Szymon was responsible for assessing the data protection compliance of numerous companies as part of the M&A due diligence process and provided transactional advice relating to privacy and data protection.
He has authored many articles about personal data protection and privacy published in Polish magazines and newspapers, e.g. Rzeczpospolita, Puls Biznesu, Magazyn ODO, Lex Ochrona Danych Osobowych, as well as abroad, e.g. in Thomson Reuters Practical Law and on Linklaters’ blogs.
