About the IAPP

For the past five years, I have had the pleasure of serving the mission of the South Carolina Department of Education as the state’s K-12 public education agency’s Chief Privacy Officer. At the department, one of my primary goals is to lead the implementation and maturity of the personal data protection program office, by delivering responsible data stewardship and compliance through trusted standards, principles, and data governance practices to both internal and external and collective and individual stakeholders at all levels of the public education ecosystem. My passion is to provide these stakeholders with relevant, accurate, and informative student data protection privacy awareness of trending topics and activities, so they are better prepared to make informed and appropriate data-driven decisions as they apply to their specific situation.

I currently maintain the International Association of Privacy Professionals CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) and the CIPP/US (Certified Information Privacy Professional) credentials. And I am excited for this privilege to serve this local community as an IAPP KnowledgeNet Co-Chair.
