David Mesman, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, FIP
David joined Synergy Group in August 2023 as Special Counsel and Executive-Director, where he focuses on privacy, FOI and access-to-information, data security & management as well as advising on broader administrative law and regulatory issues. Prior to joining Synergy Law, David was a 10+ year 'veteran' of NBN, Australia’s National Broadband Network's where he worked in the company's Chief Data Office as Executive Advisor – Data Governance and before that as NBN’s General Counsel - FOI, Privacy & Knowledge Management. Canadian-born, David graduated from McGill Law School and completed his undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montréal. David was called to the Ontario Bar before migrating to Sydney, Australia, where he worked with numerous New South Wales State Government agencies in policy, legal and advisory roles. A member of the Law Society of NSW, David has a keen interest in privacy law, data ethics and consumer data rights, along with developing practical, strategic solutions for government, business and the broader community in rapidly evolving regulatory and commercial environments. He also has a 'side hustle' as a speech and screenwriter.
