About the IAPP

Shontael has been leading AI Ethics work within Nationwide’s Enterprise Analytics Office, centralized advanced analytics team, since 2021. She came to the role from a data science background. Prior to data science she trained as an educator and researcher in the social sciences, sociolinguistics. At Nationwide she supports enterprise partners in Risk Management, Ethics, Legal, Compliance, and Government Relations providing thought leadership and operational integration of emerging requirements and best practices within AI Governance. She is particularly proud of efforts to anchor this work to Nationwide’s mission and values while nurturing a culture of ethical behavior within the analytics team, enterprise and beyond. She regularly participates in activities outside of Nationwide in order to learn from others and share the fantastic work Nationwide is doing within this space.
