About the IAPP

Laura Weiss is Chief Counsel, Privacy and Data Law and Chief Compliance Officer for Global Technology. Laura also oversees data compliance for the enterprise, including oversight of regulatory compliance for cybersecurity, big data and artificial intelligence, and global privacy.  Prior to serving in her current role, Laura led Prudential’s Global Financial Crimes organization and served as Prudential’s Global Chief Privacy Officer.

Laura joined Prudential after holding several positions at American Express, where she was responsible for developing and implementing privacy programs across various lines of business, including American Express’ Consumer Card business and Digital functions. 

Laura is a frequent panelist on topics of data privacy, AI regulations and risk, and cybersecurity governance. Laura holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Privacy Technologist (CIPT) credentials from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Laura was recently delighted to help develop the IAPP’s new AI Governance training,

Laura graduated from George Washington University magna cum laude and earned a J.D. from Cardozo University magna cum laud. Following law school, Laura practiced law with an international law firm.
