About the IAPP

Eric Tierling has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry and spent the last 15 years focusing on Security, Privacy, and Compliance. In 2022, he joined the Cloud Privacy team of Google as a Technical Product Manager.

Previously, he spent six years with Microsoft. At Microsoft 365 engineering, he has been working on AI/ML Privacy Compliance as well as on Privacy & Compliance for Windows 365, offering Windows via the Cloud, and Microsoft Managed Desktop, an innovative IT-as-a-Service offering for enterprise customers. At the Cloud + AI compliance engineering unit of Microsoft, he worked on Privacy/GDPR compliance and published the first GDPR white paper at Microsoft for Azure enterprise customers.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Eric was the president, founder, and owner of ITO Tierling consulting. He has authored more than 50 books and 750 articles focused on cyber security, Information Technology, and data privacy.

Eric earned his Master in Information Systems Security Management (MSSI) at the University of Luxembourg. Besides having achieved CIPP/E, CIPM, and CIPT status. Also, he was awarded as an IAPP FIP. Furthermore, he is CISSP certified, was a member of the European ISC2 GDPR Task Force, and volunteers for the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).
