Erika Britt, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, FIP
Erika Britt is Senior Legal Counsel at Carestream Health Inc. As an international corporate attorney, Erika advises on significant legal matters in international law, complex commercial transactions, software licensing, healthcare, data privacy law and privacy risk management. Erika is instrumental in navigating complex data privacy issues relating to Carestream’s management of millions of patient health records world-wide. She has experience in developing global data privacy policies and standards, drafting international data transfer agreements, developing global employee privacy training, and establishing operational privacy management tools such as breach response protocols, de-identification rules, IT-security checklists, and privacy impact assessments.
Before joining Carestream, Erika was Corporate Counsel at Element K Corporation where she advised on data privacy laws and privacy management, such as international data transfers. She was also an Associate Corporate Attorney at the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Dickstein and Shapiro, LLP. Erika began her career working for the United States Department of State, where she served in overseas Peacekeeping Missions to Bosnia under the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Prior to this service, Erika interned at the Department of State’s Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.
Erika received her Juris Doctor degree, Cum Laude, from American University’s Washington College of Law, where she was an Editor of the American Bar Association’s Administrative Law Review, and practiced in front of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, pro bono, under the Women & the Law Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Political Science from the University at Buffalo. Erika is an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy, a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). She is currently serving as a board member on IAPP’s Examination Development Board. Erika is a licensed attorney in New York and Maryland, and is admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court.
