Julie McEwen, AIGP, CIPP/G, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, FIP
Julie McEwen is a certified cybersecurity and privacy engineer and strategic advisor. She has extensive experience integrating legal, social, and ethical privacy considerations into programs, policy, and technology to help commercial, non-profit, and government organizations around the world to address privacy harms and risks to individuals.
She co-founded and led for over 24 years a successful and respected privacy practice at the MITRE Corporation. She also conducted research to investigate new cybersecurity and privacy engineering approaches, including co-leading development of the groundbreaking MITRE PANOPTIC(TM) Privacy Threat Model. Prior to joining MITRE, she led privacy and cybersecurity programs while at the U.S. Department of Defense, Deloitte, IIT Research Institute, the Logistics Management Institute, and T. Rowe Price.
She has been an IAPP Faculty Member from 2005-2019 and 2022 to the present. She was a contributing expert/trainer for development of IAPP’s AI Governance Professional (AIGP) online training. She received the 2023 IAPP Hughes Volunteer Leadership award for her work leading IAPP privacy training development and advancing privacy certification programs. She has served on multiple IAPP Advisory Boards and is currently Chair of the CIPT Exam Development Board.
She is a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) and holds multiple certifications, including the CIPP/US, CIPP/G, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP, CISSP, and PMP.
