Tom De Cordier
Tom focuses on privacy and data protection law, telecommunications law, IT law and technology-related IP. Tom regularly assists multinational companies in multijurisdictional privacy compliance projects and in negotiations of IT sourcing projects. In addition, he advises telecommunications operators on regulatory matters and represents them in regulatory litigation before civil and administrative courts.
He frequently speaks at conferences and seminars on data protection topics. He is also frequently asked to share his views on privacy topics by leading Belgian financial newspapers. Tom is a member of the European Advisory Board of the IAPP (the International Association of Privacy Professionals).
Tom graduated from the University of Ghent in 1999 and studied at the University of Paris-Nanterre (Paris, 1999) and Queen Mary University (London, 2000) where he obtained an LL.M degree in computer and communications law.
Tom is recommended by several leading independent directories such as Legal 500, who note he is known for "informing clients on the way that issues could impact a business" (Legal 500 2012), and Chambers, who comment he is "acclaimed particularly for his strength in data protection work" and has a great reputation in the legal market" (Chambers 2012).
