Monica Simoes de Almeida, CIPP/E
Monica is a solicitor who started her career as a Portuguese lawyer, with over 13 years experience supporting organisations in several matters including data protection, both in her home country of Portugal and in the UK, where she came to in 2011 to fully dedicate her career to data protection as her passion area. She started her career in Lisbon’s private practice, working mainly in corporate, commercial data protection and public law at Xavier, Bernardes, Braganca and then in Albuquerque & Associates until coming to London in 2011 as Data Protection Manager in Addleshaw Goddard. After that she worked at Speechly Bircham (now Charles Russell Speechlys) in their Data Protection team, in Visa UK and PwC Legal until October 2016 when she joined the John Lewis Partnership. She is currently the Senior Manager for Data Privacy in John Lewis’ Data Privacy and Information Security.
