About the IAPP

Smita is a Senior Product Counsel at Autodesk, where she leads the legal team's AI and Machine Learning platform strategy, and data governance and support for Generative AI. She frequently advises C-suite and senior leadership on intellectual property, data licensing, privacy, competition, open source, transactional and other aspects of the company’s data and identity products.

Previously as Product Counsel at Apple, Smita advised cross functional teams on regulatory, legal, privacy and product issues all the way from ideation through launch. Smita also has experience working in law firms, having worked at Cooley LLP as a startup lawyer and at Kirkland & Ellis as an IP lawyer. 

Smita serves on the IAPP Education Advisory Board. She was awarded the Rising Star Award by the MCCA and was part of IAOP’s list of Unstoppable Women 2020.
