About the IAPP

Maria is currently an Internal Audit Manager at Nordea, specializing in data privacy and cybersecurity audits in the Nordic financial sector.

During her membership with the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she became certified as a Certified Data Privacy Manager (CIPM) in 2019 and Information Privacy Professional/ Europe (CIPP/E) in 2018. Currently, she is studying towards getting certified in IT risk management.

Her data privacy journey started with a data protection analyst role at Gameloft, a mobile gaming company, with branches worldwide. Next, she has been acting as a data protection consultant for several EU and US established companies from various backgrounds, such as mobile gaming start-ups, mobile device manufacturers, and EU public institutions. Before joining her current role, she was also a senior IT security specialist in a Nordic bank - Nordea.

She speaks Romanian (native language), English (full professional proficiency), and French (intermediate level).
