About the IAPP

Ulrika Dellrud is a globally recognized privacy thought leader and frequent speaker on privacy and data, AI, digital ethics, cybersecurity, ESG, and open data. Her career spans 25 years of global operational and strategic privacy and data experience, having served as EMEA and global chief privacy officer in several big multinational companies where she has driven and implemented transformational change in corporate environments, including obtaining the first-ever approved set of Binding Corporate Rules for GE.

Ulrika is the chief privacy and data ethics officer at Smarter Contracts, a UK-based innovative start up where she concentrates much of her time on open data and open banking matters, involving data sharing, trustworthy AI, blockchain, and responsible use of data. She is also a Non-Executive Director and advises companies with their data strategies and compliance challenges. She regularly engages with regulators and authorities globally to input on new initiatives and laws and actively participates in the global data discussion. She is a member of the European Data Protection Board’s pool of experts.

A Swedish and US-qualified attorney and member of the NY bar, she is a long-term member of the IAPP and has served on several of their advisory boards, including the AI Professional Governance Board, written certification exam questions and reviewed several textbooks. In 2022, she was awarded the first-ever “Hughes Volunteer Leadership Award” for exceptional leadership and innovation in privacy. Ulrika is also a Board Director of ISACA Belgium where she serves as the Certification Director.

Ulrika is a long-time mentor and coach and an enthusiast for developing the careers of younger professionals in the field of data and is a member of Women in Privacy and one of the leader’s in ISACA’s SheLeadsTech program.
