Chief Legal and Privacy Officer

Damien Kieran is the Chief Legal and Privacy Officer at Tools for Humanity (TFH), a core contributor to the Work Network – a network of real humans built on a privacy-preserving proof of human and a globally inclusive financial network. In this role, Damien leads the team responsible for working with regulators and officials worldwide to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. He also focuses on finding innovative ways for World to complement and solve existing challenges and opportunities with governments, partners and users.



Prior to joining TFH, Damien was general counsel at BeReal and Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at X (formerly known as Twitter). He led Twitter’s data protection team responsible for the company’s compliance with global regulations. He was Global Litigation Counsel for Twitter and was responsible for managing non-U.S. litigation and regulatory matters for the company. He has testified before the U.S. Senate on Consumer Data Privacy and the European Commission on consumer protection.

Before joining Twitter, Damien Kieran worked at the New York offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, LLP, and Weil, Gotshal, & Manges LLP. His practice focused on complex contentious matters in the high-tech space. Prior to moving to the United States, Damien worked at Google, and at a leading Irish law firm in Dublin.

He holds a Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law; an LLM, summa cum laude, from University College Dublin; and a Bachelor of Laws, magna cum laude, from Nottingham Trent University. He served as Editor in Chief of the University College Dublin Law Review.
