About the IAPP

Melanie Pérez-Rivera, CIPP/US, is a Counsel at Marini Pietrantoni Muñiz LLC and Chair of the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice. She is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Her practice is focused on data privacy, cybersecurity law, and complex commercial and civil litigation.

Melanie has experience representing companies from different industries such as airports, banking, private equity funds, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure sectors. Also, her practice includes counseling on consumer privacy-related regulation matters, data breach notification requirements, and defense on breach-related regulatory proceedings and litigations. Before joining the law firm, she served as a law clerk for Associate Judge Hon. Anabelle Rodríguez at the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
