Aarani Stoneham
Aarani serves as General Counsel at ModiFace, Inc., the first technology company acquired by the L’Oréal Group, and a global leader in augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) for the beauty industry. She oversees ModiFace’s legal strategy, negotiating with global clients on patented Virtual Try On (VTO) technology and advising on privacy, competition, and AI governance, with a focus on ethics and bias. She is a speaker, panelist, and guest lecturer at law faculties, as well as a Board member of the Canadian Technology Law Association. Aarani also recently completed the innovative AI Policy Compass Program by the Quebec Institute of AI/Public Policy Forum. Her previous roles include leading Whirlpool Canada’s legal department, driving global ESG initiatives, and managing KitchenAid’s portfolio. Aarani also established MDG Finance Inc.'s in-house legal department as General Counsel and served as Claims Counsel at one of Canada’s top title insurers. She holds an Honours B.B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University, an M.A. from the University of Sydney, and an L.L.B. from the University of Windsor.
