About the IAPP

Laura Weiss is Blackstone’s Data Policy and Strategy Officer and leads a legal and compliance function responsible for data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, alternative data and information risk management. Laura is responsible for the development and execution of Blackstone’s data regulatory and risk strategy. 

Laura joined Blackstone in 2024 after holding several leadership positions at Prudential Financial, where she was Prudential’s Global Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Privacy, Cyber and AI counsel. Prior to that, Laura held several leadership positions at American Express where she was responsible for developing and implementing privacy programs across various lines of business, including American Express’ Consumer Card business and Digital functions.  

Laura holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and Privacy Technologist (CIPT) credentials from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She is also a member of the IAPP’s Education Advisory Board and was a co-author of the IAPP’s AI Governance curriculum. Laura is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
