Toshiki Yano

Toshiki Yano is a legal and policy professional specializing in data protection, AI governance, and technology regulation, with experience across business sectors.
He is currently Division Manager of the Data Analytics Governance Section at MoneyForward Inc., a leading Japanese fintech company offering cloud-based financial services for individuals and businesses. At MoneyForward, he oversees the company’s data and AI governance, privacy compliance, and the ethical use of emerging technologies, focusing on aligning business practices with evolving regulatory standards.
Before joining MoneyForward in 2024, he served as Japan Lead for Global Affairs at OpenAI, where he contributed to public policy engagement and responsible AI governance. From 2019 to 2024, he was a senior public policy manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS), working on cloud policy and regulatory issues in Japan.
From 2013 to 2019, he worked at Google as a policy lead on privacy and security in the Asia-Pacific public policy team. Earlier, from 2009 to 2011, he was with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Economic Affairs Bureau, where he participated in trade negotiations concerning intellectual property enforcement.
He began his career as a litigator in Tokyo in the late 1990s and practiced law for over a decade. He holds an LL.M. in Trade Regulation from New York University School of Law and is admitted to both the Tokyo Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
